Introducing: Brave animated series
Did you expect to find an incredible animated series from Taiwan? Well, I didn’t! But I’m very glad I found it 😁
Straight to the point: I found an incredible story full of amazing characters and powerful lessons. I could even write a full article for each of its episodes… And, one day, I might! 💪
Still, its budget could only get us 6 episodes 😅 And I find it hard to support it in its home country due to the language barrier 🙃 But Netflix bought a distribution license for most countries outside of Taiwan. So, if a lot of people watch it and say that they like it, then, maybe Netflix will make an offer to get us a second season 😃
I have faith in this project 😊 And I’m here to give you a few reasons to try the series yourself 😉
What is “Brave Animated Series”?
Brave Animated Series is an animated series created in Taiwan, produced by Bigcat Studio, and broadcasted on June 2021 by the Public Television Service of Taiwan. Netflix would later buy a distribution license, and include it in its streaming service for most countries in the world.
What is it about?
The show is based off the Brave Series comic by Yellowbook. It explores a vast continent inhabited by many races, including humans, dragons, demons, and others; where the “Braves”, the heroes of humanity, abuse their authority to pillage and massacre other races indiscriminately, “for the sake of humans” 🙃
Although, this story does not follow the Braves. Instead, it follows the heroes that rose against their tyranny. So, get ready to discover their origins, their motivations, and their quest to make a difference in a world full of hatred 😉
Should you try it?
Of course, you should! 😃 This series has a lot to offer. Although, I don’t recommend it to children under 16 without adult supervision 😅
Still, let’s take a look at the things that make “Brave Animated Series” into something worthy of your attention 😁
Reason #1: Dark, and yet, adorable
Take a look at its opening and see it for yourself 😉 The animation style, the use of color, the character design… They give the series a polished and adorable look 😃
And its style doesn’t limit its quality. The backgrounds and lightning help convey what the characters feel, and its action scenes were interesting to see! Besides, its soundtrack made me appreciate Taiwanese music for the first time 😅 (Seriously, watch the opening. It’ll give you a fair notion of the quality you can expect for the whole series 😉).
Although, don’t let its adorable looks fool you. Yes, you will find good-hearted characters here, but this series is not afraid to approach dark themes on-screen 🙃 So, expect a similar effect to that of Made in Abyss and Puella Magi Madoka Magica…
Reason #2: A world full of stories
This is not just the story of a few characters. This is the story of a whole continent, a great land full of history and individuals of all kinds.
Every episode follows a different group of characters, and their stories teach you about the world they live in and the different races that live in it, their past, their struggles, their pain, and the future that awaits them…
Very few stories reach this level of depth in just a few episodes and, this time, it felt completely natural!
Every episode had me wondering what I would discover in the next one. And that, my friend, is a powerful reason to try this series 😉
Reason #3: Amazing characters
I’ll be honest here: I don’t like the book definition of “Hero”.
In both English and Spanish, a “Hero” is a person worthy of fame because of their feats and virtues. It is used for protagonists, or for people who sacrificed something for the benefit of many others. But, is that really all there is to a hero?
I don’t agree. A real hero is someone who does the right thing even if everybody else demands the opposite. It is someone who accepts the risks because their cause is worth it, someone who doesn’t allow past or environment to dictate over their actions, someone who does not give up even if the whole world turns against them…
Brave Animated Series tells the story of a world full of hardships and hatred. And, in such a difficult world, good intentions are not enough. Because any attempt of going against the tide puts your own life at risk. But still, the greatest heroes are born from the toughest conditions 💪
The heroes of this story aren’t the strongest, nor the bravest. But they were courageous enough to name the real problem and do something about it.
I’ve found heroes of this caliber before, but never so many in such a short amount of time 🤎 This story is full of real heroes and wonderful characters. And their quest to change their world is one I don’t want to miss 😊
Reason #4: Kindness in a world full of hatred
I believe this is the reason that made me love this series 😊
You know, I once heard a quote that stuck with me:
“There’s more good than evil in the world, but evil speaks louder”.
I couldn’t find its origin, and I don’t remember who I heard it from. But I firmly believe it. And this story helped me remember 🙂
I was deeply moved by these characters. They were born into such a cruel world, but they still felt love and compassion for others. And they stood up for their ideals, even in a world that actively encouraged them to ignore them 🙃
Every day we hear all sorts of bad news. Corrupt politicians, wars, crime, problems with the economy, unemployment… sounds familiar, doesn’t it?
Remember: evil speaks loud. But there is more good than evil in the world. We are many, we know many things, and we can change all of those “realities” if we work together.
“A mountain is not a single big rock, but a collection of pebbles of all sizes”.
There’s no single magical solution to all problems, such a thing doesn’t exist in real life. Instead, we need a lot of smaller solutions that will solve the problem little by little, one pebble at a time. And, for that, all you have to do is work for the things you care about 🙂
I, for example, chose to contribute with education, by sharing and creating stories that can nourish the generations that succeed mine 😊 That’s why I was so moved when I learned that, even in a small country in the other side of the world, there were people using stories to show us that kindness can prosper, even if it grows surrounded by hate 🤎
Today I shared with you one of my recent favorites 😊 Please, watch it on Netflix. And let’s try to convince them of funding a second season 💪
The next lesson will come from the first episode of the series. Take a look at it if you have the time, or I will have to narrate it for you 😉
Sincerely,
